The war isn't over — it's just getting started. Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World is officially getting a third season, announced on October 25, 2026, during the Fantasia Bunko Grand Thanksgiving Festival 2026 Online event. After a second season that fought its own uphill battle just to reach the finish line, Iska and Aliceliese are coming back — and this time, the mission takes them straight into the heart of the Empire.
The announcement arrived with a brand-new teaser visual drawn by character designer Kaori Yoshikawa, carrying the line "Operation: Infiltrate the Empire, commence!" According to the story outline shared alongside the reveal, Iska's unit and Rin are heading into Imperial territory to rescue Sisbell — a mission that promises to drag the series' star-crossed leads deeper into the century-old war between the scientifically advanced Empire and the Nebulis Sovereignty, the paradise of witches.
For fans, the best news might be who's coming back. Director Yuki Inaba returns and handles series composition, with Yoshikawa back on character design and Studio Palette and SILVER LINK once again co-producing the animation — the same team behind Season 2. The full main Japanese cast is also confirmed to return:
- Yusuke Kobayashi as Iska
- Sora Amamiya as Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX
- Nao Shiraki as Mismis Klass
- Kaori Ishihara as Nene Alkastone
- Shunichi Toki as Jhin Syulargun
- Yumiri Hanamori as Rin Vispose
- Azumi Waki as Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX
If you need a refresher, the road here has been anything but smooth. Season 1 aired from October to December 2020, and Season 2 was originally slated for 2023 before delays pushed it to July 2024. After just four episodes, the season was paused in August 2024 to maintain quality, then restarted from the beginning in April 2025, finally wrapping in June 2025. That troubled history makes a full returning team feel like a genuine vote of confidence.
Our Last Crusade is based on the light novels by Kei Sazane with illustrations by Ao Nekonabe, published under KADOKAWA's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint and licensed in English by Yen Press. At its core, it's always been a battlefield romance: an Imperial swordsman and a witch princess, sworn enemies who keep choosing each other over the war that demands they destroy one another.
One important note: no premiere date or release window has been announced yet. Season 3 is confirmed in production, not imminent — so don't expect a trailer tomorrow. But after years of waiting, delays, and restarts, "in production" is a beautiful phrase. Operation: Infiltrate the Empire has commenced, and we'll be watching the front lines for every update.
