Xbox just spent a whole afternoon reminding us why the indie scene is the beating heart of gaming. Yesterday's ID@Xbox x IGN Showcase (October 20, 2026) dropped release dates for nearly 20 indie games headed to Xbox Series X|S and PC — and the headliner is one nobody saw coming.
Shrek 2 Remastered leads the pack, landing on Xbox Series X|S on November 10, 2026. The 2004 film tie-in is getting brand-new graphics and new features, and same-day listings have also popped up for other platforms, so it looks like this is a multi-platform resurrection, not an Xbox exclusive. SomeBODY give this game a hero's welcome.
But the remaster fever doesn't stop there. Telltale's noir classic The Wolf Among Us Remastered arrives October 29 — the same day horror hit Mouthwashing makes its console debut after wrecking PC players' nerves. That's a double feature night right there: neon-noir detective work followed by a space freighter full of dread.
Here are the other dates worth circling on your calendar:
- Scramble Knights Online — October 26, 2026 (MMO-lite action RPG, out first)
- Zero Parades: Director's Cut — November 3, 2026 (ZA/UM's espionage RPG)
- A Game About Digging a Hole Together — December 4, 2026 (Xbox + PC; Steam, PS5 and Switch 2 versions follow later)
- Arctic Eggs — available NOW on Xbox (fry eggs on Mount Everest, obviously)
- Paper Shredder — winter 2026
- No, I'm not a Human — Xbox in 2027 (the paranoia interrogation sim)
The 2027 pipeline is already stacked too: Croak in March, Chronoscript: The Endless End in early summer, Rustown on June 30, Love Is A Roguelite in autumn, and Graytail dated all the way out to November 2027. And if you want to go hands-on with the next wave, Steam Next Fest runs October 19–26 with playable demos for a huge chunk of these.
Six of the showcased games land before the end of the year, so clear your backlog accordingly. Indies carried this year, and 2027 isn't slowing down. Which one are you wishlisting first?
All dates via the ID@Xbox x IGN Showcase (Oct 20, 2026) as reported by Gamereactor.
