Grounded 2's Rot and Ruin Update (0.6.6): Termites, a Centipede Boss, and a Potato Beetle Tank

The backyard just got a whole lot nastier. Obsidian's Grounded 2 keeps its Early Access momentum rolling with the Rot and Ruin update — now on version 0.6.6 in the public test build — and this one is not messing around. Termites have invaded the Woodpile, a brand-new centipede boss is waiting in the dark, and yes, you can now ride a potato beetle into battle with a turret strapped to its back. Let's break it all down.

The headline act is the Woodpile, a brand-new termite-infested region, and the nightmare living inside it: Skritch, an optional centipede boss fought deep in the termite nest. To summon her, you'll need to place 3 Termite Parts, 2 Termite Larva Skins, and 2 Nauseating Mushrooms on a sacrificial altar — then survive heavy melee pressure, status effects, and summoned termite backup, including the dreaded O.G.R.R. King. The new Perfect Dodge mechanic, which costs no stamina and opens up counter-attacks, will be your best friend here.

Beat Skritch and the loot is chef's kiss. The Centi-Cultist armor set is a Tier 4 mage set built for summoners: the mask cuts Woozy buildup, the robe and leggings boost your summons' critical chance, and the full-set bonus Call from Beyond gives your attacks a chance to call in a Termite Soldier to fight beside you. Pair it with the Cane-tipede staff, which deals Venom damage and summons venom creatures of its own. Termite hunters get their own gear too — the Termite armor set with the Stopping Power set bonus for perfect-block stuns, plus the Splinter Cannon, a ranged weapon that fires Splinter, Mint, Spicy, and Sour shots.

Then there's the star of the show: the Potato Beetle Buggy. This Tier 3 mount is an absolute unit — one of the chunkiest health bars in the game, a shotgun-like turret for close-to-mid-range crowd control, and ammo you refill by pulverizing enemy corpses. Unlock the blueprint for 5,000 Raw Science, track down a Potato Beetle Egg, and hatch it in your Hatchery with Chrysalis Leather, Black Ant Parts, and Pinecone Pieces. Twelve in-game hours later, you've got a tank.

Rounding out the update: the Yoking Press, a new building that upgrades gear through tiers; five hidden figurines that unlock the Rascal Rogue mutation (a chance to steal loot from enemies with melee hits); and new resources like Bismuth to fuel it all.

One important note: Rot and Ruin is currently in public test on Xbox and Steam — the stable release date hasn't been announced yet, and test progress may not carry over. But if you want a taste of where Grounded 2 is headed, the Woodpile is open for business. Bring a shield.
