ANANTA Locks In January 15, 2027 Launch: The 'Anime GTA' Is Real

The 'anime GTA' is officially on the calendar. NetEase Games and developer Naked Rain have confirmed that ANANTA launches worldwide on January 15, 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android.

Originally revealed as Project Mugen at Gamescom 2023 and renamed in late 2024, Ananta is a free-to-play urban open-world RPG set across two massive cities: Nova City and Chongxiao's Lingyun City. Players take on the role of an agent for the Anti-Chaos Directorate, teaming up with companions to investigate supernatural anomalies hiding beneath everyday city life.

The latest story trailer introduced Chongxiao, the game's second major city, and showed off the fluid martial-arts combat the game is known for, including Jackie Chan-inspired sequences where everyday objects become weapons. Outside of missions, players can steal cars, engage in high-speed chases, explore nightlife, and dive into side activities across the cities.

Here is what is confirmed:

  • Release date: January 15, 2027 (global)
  • Platforms: PC (client & Steam), PS5, iOS, Android
  • Price: Free-to-play
  • Gacha: No gacha system for characters. Monetization focuses on cosmetics like outfits, vehicles, and homes.
  • Pre-registrations: Over 17 million worldwide and counting

Launching roughly eight weeks after GTA VI, Ananta is stepping into the spotlight at one of the most competitive moments in gaming history. With its anime aesthetic, open-city sandbox freedom, and no-gacha promise, it might just be the boldest swing of early 2027. Pre-registration is open now on mobile storefronts, Steam, and the PS Store.
