The wait is finally over. After months of trailers showcasing neon-soaked streets and supernatural anomalies, Neverness to Everness (NTE) officially launched on April 29, 2026. Developed by Hotta Studio (the team behind Tower of Fantasy), this Unreal Engine 5 title promised a "supernatural GTA meets anime RPG" experience.
Now that we’ve had a week to tear through the streets of Hethereau, how is the game actually doing? Let’s break down the state of the game.
The Launch: A Massive Arrival
NTE didn't just launch; it exploded. Within the first three days, it hit the #1 spot in download rankings across multiple regions. On Twitch, the game peaked at over 114,000 concurrent viewers, proving that the "supernatural urban" niche was a void players were desperate to fill.
What’s Working: The "Urban Lifestyle"
The standout feature isn't just the combat—it’s the world-building.
The City of Hethereau: Built on UE5, the environment is breathtaking. It feels dense, evocative, and lived-in.
The "Tycoon" Systems: Unlike many gachas that feel like a series of menus, NTE lets you buy property, manage a café, and customize cars. It feels more like a "life-sim" where you actually have to earn your keep.
The Gacha System: In a surprising move, Hotta implemented a very player-friendly system. With no 50/50 mechanic on limited banners and solid base rates (0.99% for S-rank characters), it’s being hailed as one of the most F2P-friendly major releases in years.
The Growing Pains
It’s not all neon lights and smooth sailing. Early reviews and player feedback have highlighted a few areas that need polish:
The "Clunky" Drive System: While car customization is deep, the actual driving physics feel a bit dated compared to the rest of the high-fidelity world.
Narrative Momentum: The story starts with a bang but some players feel it gets "scattered" and "level-gated" early on, leading to a bit of a grind to see the next major story beats.
Optimization: While the PS5 Pro Enhanced version looks stunning, mobile players (especially on older devices) are reporting significant heat and frame-rate drops.
The Verdict: Should You Jump In?
NTE is currently an 8/10 experience for most. It has successfully carved out a unique identity that sits somewhere between the high-octane combat of Zenless Zone Zero and the expansive exploration of Wuthering Waves.
If you’re a fan of urban exploration, supernatural mysteries, or just want a game where you can "vibe" in a coffee shop between monster hunts, Hethereau is definitely worth the download.
Ananta coming soon
