Tekken 7 New Character

"Lidia has always been an upright and resolute woman. She believes that justice requires absolute power, which is why she has shown great interest in karate from a very young age. The loss of her father stoked her interest in the family tradition of politics. Lidia showed great qualities in both areas, entering and winning her first karate world championship at 18, and more recently being one of the youngest rising stars in the Polish political arena. The war started by the Mishima Zaibatsu is greatly affecting Poland and she is committed to settle the situation with her own fists."

Hey y’all, Tekken 7 released a new character this week and I gotta tell ya, I’m confused. She is the Prime Minister of Poland in the Tekken universe and her name is Lidia Sobieska. Her style is Karate, reminiscent of characters like Hitomi from Dead or Alive or Yuri from King of Fighters. As far as Tekken characters go, I felt like they had more hits than misses. I am a big fan of Noctis from FF15 and Leroy Smith who is basically Ip Man with soul. And from what I’ve seen of her, I don’t think she’s bad gameplay wise. Something about her leaves much to be desired. She feels like another generic character that doesn’t really stand out from pre-existing characters. In Tekken currently, there are about 12 karate users. Give or take a few characters who might not do traditional karate but have some moves incorporated in their personal styles. This goes to characters like Bryan, Lee, and Paul. Does that mean Lidia is wack? No, I just feel like lesser known martial arts would have been nice to see. Hapkido, Aikido, or even Chun Kuk Do have yet to make an appearance in Tekken. Karate is powerful. Tekken has shown us time and time again, it’s not the martial arts itself, it’s the skill of the fighter(or player) who can get the job done. Still in modern times, it feels as though Karate is the proverbial peanut butter and jelly sandwich of martial arts. Maybe the creators are big fans of the Cobra Kai series. Anyway, Lidia was released on the 23rd of March and is available anywhere you download your game DLC.
